New Mandated Reporter Training

Hello troop 110/2110 families,

Many of you might know that there is a new "mandated reporter training" recommended by our council. In GGAC's words "Youth protection is a core value of the Golden Gate Area Council. We are continuing to update you with the latest news on California law AB 506, which adds layers of protection to our already robust BSA Youth Protection and Barriers to Abuse policies."

They ask that all Registered BSA Volunteer positions and Employees including camp staff must comply with AB506. In addition, other volunteers who are 18 years of age or older and who have direct contact with, or supervision of, children for more than 16 hours a month or 32 hours per year.

It's a 3 step process:

1) Completing the 2-hour online training provided by the Office of Child Abuse Prevention in the State Department of Social Services at this link: https://mandatedreporterca.com/

2) Upload your state Mandated Reporter Training Certificate to your Council.

3) Live scan background check. For the last step either you use the many opportunities provided by district and council or you can find the Live Scan site nearest to you https://www.certifixlivescan.com/

The next live scan fingerprinting opportunity arranged by district is on Monday the 11th of April from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The sign up is linked here. This event will be hosted at Our Lady of Guadalupe, parking is located at: 40374 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA 94538. More opportunities for live scan fingerprinting are coming soon. Stay tuned.

If you have any questions, please let us know.
