troop 110/2110 families, Many
of you might know that there is a new "mandated
reporter training" recommended by our council. In
GGAC's words "Youth protection is a core value of
the Golden Gate Area Council. We are continuing to
update you with the latest news on California law
AB 506, which adds layers of protection to our
already robust BSA Youth Protection and Barriers to
Abuse policies." They
ask that all Registered BSA Volunteer positions and
Employees including camp staff must comply with
AB506. In addition, other volunteers who are 18
years of age or older and who have direct contact
with, or supervision of, children for more than 16
hours a month or 32 hours per year. Click

a 3 step process: 1)
Completing the 2-hour online training provided by
the Office of Child Abuse Prevention in the State
Department of Social Services at this

your state Mandated Reporter Training Certificate
to your Council. 3)
Live scan background check. For the last step
either you use the many opportunities provided by
district and council or you can find the Live Scan
site nearest to you https://www.certifixlivescan.com/ The
next live scan fingerprinting
opportunity arranged by district is on
Monday the 11th of April from 5:30 pm to 8:30
pm. The sign up is
linked here.
